DEETS: Common or serious issues in other reviews:
Bottom needs reinforcement: TRUE. My dogs are well under the maximum weight of 60 lbs., but I don’t like the layers of canvas as the weight-bearing bottom. If we pick up their friend and take him for a spin with us, the total weight will be around 47 lbs. UPDATE: I stretched two 15"x15" cargo nets across the bottom interior, under the pad to transfer the load to the frame - much better!
***MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS***
Not balanced/subject to tipping: TRUE. The rear wheels are too far forward under the cabin. There are two effective and simple solutions in the comments (one is a kickstand, the other is dragster-type wheel in the back). I tried training wheels but there isn’t enough clearance between the cabin frame and wheels for this to work, and I don’t want to punch any holes in the frame, so I went with the clamp-on kickstand, which works fine to stabilize the stroller. No danger of tipping when attached to a bicycle. ***MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS***
Brakes aren’t effective: MEH for most of us. I put a 1/2" heat sleeve over each of the brake bars to add friction, which helped tremendously. The brakes are also adjustable. I saw some comments about jogging with the stroller and needing brake assist when going downhill and it is TRUE, the brakes are not good enough for that. Caliper brakes with a parking lock would be much better. ***MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS***
Use a bungee cord or a luggage strap to hold the side frames in place when collapsed. The wheels can be easily removed if you prefer.
The included pad is decent. As my dogs age I’ll add a light crate pad.
The first time inserting the top support bar is a booger, but it gets easier after the fabric stretches into place. This should be snug because it’s the horizontal support for the top of the cabin.
The front wheel has jog and normal settings. When the spring pin is rotated one way, there is no corresponding hole to lock in place and the wheel will pivot. Rotate the pin 180° and the pin pops right into place and locks the wheel. Read the instructions.
MY PERSONAL COMMENTS:
I have an e-bike with a complicated rear axle. I MacGyvered an alternative attachment to the frame. I’d like to have an alternative hitch that can be used on the frame (and can be purchased as a retrofit). ***MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS***
My stroller was shipped with one tire that would not hold any air at all. I replaced both of them. This is a QC problem. ***MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS***
It came with only one tether. I walk my dogs to the stroller on double-dog leash and simply clip the whole leash in place rather than try to re-secure them. Works fine and saves me a headache when they are identifying as wild hyenas. The D-ring is securely attached to the frame.
There are two decent red reflectors on the back of the cabin. I clipped on a couple of small LED flashing lights for extra safety, because that’s me.
Also a “me” thing: I added a second rear-view mirror to my bicycle to aim at the trailer at all times.
My pups travel heavy…water, treats, squeaky toys, leashes, poop bags, other small items. Another pocket or two would be useful. I’m shopping for an appropriate handlebar bag, stroller bag, or small organizer for inside the cabin. This is a user-specific thing.
Be safe, have fun!
